Bible Scripture Ecclesiastes 10:12:
“The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.”
Six Revelations:
1. Wisdom Makes Your Words Gracious
A wise person doesn’t have to be harsh to be truthful.
You can tell the truth without destroying someone. You can correct without humiliating. You can disagree without becoming disrespectful.
2. Your Words Reveal What Is Inside You
Your mouth often exposes the condition of your heart.
When God changes your heart, your language should eventually change too.
3. You Don’t Have to Match Someone’s Tone
Someone may speak to you disrespectfully and expect you to respond the same way.
Don’t let someone else’s lack of self-control determine your character.
You can remain gracious without becoming weak.
4. Foolish Words Can Become Self-Destructive
The verse says the fool’s lips will “swallow up himself.”
Sometimes people create their own consequences through what they repeatedly say.
Lies can be exposed.
Gossip can return.
Anger can destroy relationships.
Careless words can close doors.
5. Grace and Truth Can Exist Together
Being gracious doesn’t mean avoiding truth.
Godly communication isn’t about telling people only what they want to hear. It’s about speaking truth with wisdom, love, and proper timing.
6. Your Mouth Should Agree With Your Purpose
If God is taking you into greater influence, your communication matters.
A powerful gift can be damaged by an undisciplined tongue. Ask God to make your words worthy of the assignment he is giving you.
The Lord says:
I am changing the way you respond.
There was a time when you felt like you had to defend yourself immediately.
You had to explain.
You had to answer.
You had to make people understand your heart.
But God says:
You don’t have to fight with your mouth anymore.
The Lord is giving you gracious strength.
You will be able to speak truth without anger.
You will be able to establish boundaries without cruelty.
You will be able to say no without guilt.
You will be able to walk away without announcing your departure to everyone.
And when somebody attempts to pull you into an argument, the Holy Spirit will remind you:
Protect your peace.
The Lord says:
Your mouth will not become the weapon the enemy uses against your future.
You will not speak yourself out of doors.
You will not allow anger to make decisions for you.
You will not allow temporary emotions to produce permanent consequences.
God is putting grace on your speech and wisdom behind your words.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Give me a gracious tongue.
Teach me how to speak truth with love.
When I am angry, give me restraint.
When I am hurt, give me wisdom.
When I am misunderstood, give me peace.
When I need to establish a boundary, help me communicate it without hatred or bitterness.
Keep me from gossip, slander, unnecessary arguments, and words spoken out of emotion.
Let my mouth reflect the transformation you are doing in my heart.
May my words bring healing, wisdom, correction, encouragement, and peace.
I declare:
My words will not destroy what God is building.
My mouth will carry wisdom.
My words will carry grace.
My responses will carry maturity.
I will not allow anger to speak for me.
I will not allow hurt to speak for me.
I will not allow pride to speak for me.
The holy spirit will govern my tongue.
I can be firm and still be gracious.
I can speak truth and still walk in love.
I can establish boundaries without becoming bitter.
I can remain silent without feeling defeated.
My mouth will not swallow my destiny.
God is giving me wisdom in my speech, restraint in my reactions, and grace in my communication.
What comes out of my mouth will align with what God is developing in my heart.
My words will build.
My words will heal.
My words will encourage.
My words will correct with love.
My words will glorify God. In Jesus glorious name I pray, Amen.
